Dr. Anne Marie Marshall

Dr. Anne Marie Marshall’s career began as a third-grade teacher in the Milwaukee Public Schools and continued as she earned a Ph.D. in Curriculum and Instruction from the University of Maryland - College Park. For over a decade, she served as an Associate Professor at Lehman College, a Hispanic Serving Institution in the Bronx, NY. Her scholarly interests are in supporting the people in mathematics communities and working towards strengthening equity in mathematics education from PreK-16+.

Presently, she leads the Research and Evaluation Team in the Center for Math and Science Education Research at the University of Wisconsin- Milwaukee. She also co-leads a masters degree program in mathematics teacher leadership.

Dr. Marshall’s extensive body of work includes the authorship of over 25 peer-reviewed articles and book chapters. Notably, she was a key member of the writing team for the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics' influential publication, Catalyzing Change in Early Childhood and Elementary Mathematics (2020). She has been presenting at local, state and national conferences since 2000.

She continues to provide professional services for a range of education stakeholders across the country. Founder of Empowered Communities Consulting, LLC, Dr. Marshall works with students, teachers, and higher education faculty in a variety of ways. This includes but is not limited to teaching, coaching, professional development, research, evaluation, and proposal development.
